Professional Group leads in PBC poll

LAHORE, Dec 22: In the race for 11 seats of Pakistan Bar Council members from Punjab, Hamid Khan of the Professional Group appeared to be leading by getting seven votes in the bar’s election held on Wednesday.
Among others, five candidates secured five first-priority votes each, four candidates secured four first-priority votes each, one candidate secured three such votes and eight candidates got two votes of first priority each. The attorney general of Pakistan will announce the election results on Dec 31 after assessing the priority votes bagged by the candidates.
According to unofficial results, among the candidates who secured five votes each were Burhan Muazzam, Azam Nazir Tarar, Ramzan Chaudhry, and Maqsood Buttar.
Four candidates who secured as many votes of first priority are Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon, Mian Abbas, Muhammad Kalim Ahmad Khurshid, and Syed Qalb-i-Hasan.
Mian Israrul Haq is the only candidate who secured three votes of first priority.
The seven candidates who secured two first-priority votes each include Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood, Muhammad Arif Alvi, Shehram Sarwar, Muhammad Ashraf Wahlah, Nasrullah Warraich, Mian Quddus, and Asghar Husain Sabzwari. — Staff Reporter
